Imagine Being Understood

Imagine Being Understood

I am a Consultant Psychotherapist accredited with the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), with an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice, CAMHS experience, and postgraduate specialism in neurodevelopmental conditions including autism and ADHD.

My work is grounded in evidence-based practice and informed by a neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed approach. I draw on a range of therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and integrative talking therapies.

This allows me to tailor sessions to each person. Whether that means a structured, practical focus on goals and coping strategies, or a more reflective space to explore experiences, emotions, and patterns at your own pace.

I work with adults and children aged 5+ and support people experiencing:

  • Anxiety and panic
  • Depression and low mood
  • Trauma and abuse recovery
  • Substance recovery
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Work-related stress
  • Emotional overwhelm and burnout

You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Often, the first step is simply being able to say: “I’m not okay.”

What to Expect

I offer a warm, supportive way of working where you can talk openly and feel heard without judgment. I take time to really listen and help you make sense of what you’re going through, so things can feel a little clearer and less overwhelming. We move at a pace that feels right for you, with space to explore thoughts and feelings in a way that feels safe and manageable.

My therapy space is flexible and neuro-affirming, meaning it can be adapted where needed to suit different communication styles, sensory needs, or ways of processing. It is also a calm, supportive space for anyone who simply wants time to talk and reflect, whether or not they identify as neurodivergent.

I work with adults, children, and young people, and also provide in-school therapy and wellbeing support for pupils.

In-person sessions take place in comfortable, private rooms in Colne, with online sessions available via Microsoft Teams for those who prefer flexibility or remote access.

School & Young People Services

Specialist support for pupil wellbeing and staff practice

We provide neurodevelopmental consultation services to schools, supporting staff to develop clearer understanding and more effective responses to pupil emotional wellbeing, safeguarding concerns, and neurodevelopmental needs, including autism, ADHD, and emotional and behavioural differences.

We deliver services through two core strands:

Pupil Therapy - school funded

One-to-one therapeutic support delivered within the school setting for children and young people experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties. This work focuses on emotional regulation and recovery from distress.

School Consultation & Staff Support

Structured professional consultation, supervision, and reflective practice for school staff. This includes support with complex case formulation, risk-informed decision-making, and the development of practical strategies for pupils with emotional, behavioural, safeguarding, and neurodevelopmental needs.

We provide therapy, consultation, supervision, and training for schools across Burnley, Pendle, and surrounding areas.

Psychological Formulation & Understanding

This is a structured process that helps develop a clear understanding of patterns in behaviour, emotions, communication, and responses to environment, particularly where autism, ADHD, or neurodivergence may be a factor.

It is particularly helpful for individuals, children, or families who may be:

  • waiting for an ADHD or autism assessment
  • newly diagnosed and trying to understand what it means in daily life
  • struggling to make sense of behavioural, emotional, or relational patterns at home or school

The aim is to develop a clearer understanding of what is driving these difficulties and to offer practical, neuro-affirming ways of responding that support regulation, communication, and connection.

This work can help bridge the gap between assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing support or provide clarity when therapy may not yet feel like the right next step.

In-Person Therapy

Traditional, in-person therapy usually takes place in a therapist’s office and has long been used as an effective treatment for many different mental and emotional health problems. Talking to a professional can help you overcome obstacles in your life, gain awareness of the root cause of your problems, manage symptoms, and heal

Therapeutic Support for Students

We work with young people aged 11–18 who may be struggling with:

  • Anxiety, panic, and school-related stress
  • Emotionally based school avoidance
  • Low mood and self-esteem
  • Autism or ADHD-related challenges
  • Peer or behavioural difficulties

6 x Sessions can be delivered in-school, during the school day, to reduce barriers to access.

For some pupils, creative methods such as Sand Tray Therapy can help them express emotions safely when words are difficult.

Funding: Sessions can be funded through school, EHCP top-up, SEN budgets, or parent contributions.

Supervision & Support for School Staff

Professional supervision provides a safe, confidential space for DSLs, teaching staff, counsellors, and pastoral staff to reflect on their practice, manage stress, and build resilience.

Mental Care Therapies uses the Page & Wosket Cyclical Model to encourage insight and growth in a supportive environment.

These sessions can be funded through CPD or wellbeing budgets.
