Imagine Feeling Better.

Therapy in a safe, comfortable and private setting

I am Leanne Barrett, founder of Mental Care Therapies Ltd. I am a trained professional with the NHS and registered with the BACP, BPS and NCS. I work with adults and children aged 5 years and over. I work with people that have experienced abuse, anxiety, depression, grief or bereavement, relationship difficulties, stress, trauma.

It’s okay to ask for help.

Reaching out for help can feel overwhelming, scary, or maybe difficult to do. Don’t worry if you’re unsure what you want from therapy, sometimes it’s just a feeling that something isn’t right.

What to Expect

I work with you by offering a warm and easy-going approach. I listen carefully to what you say and then reflect it back to you so you can hear it for yourself. I might ask questions or perhaps ask you to tell me more about something you said. Try not to worry, we will go at your pace. I will discretely observe your body language and sometimes help you to notice your mannerisms too, as this might help you to understand yourself better.

For an In-Person session, I will ensure you have a clean, private, comfortable space for you to hear your own thoughts. I only request that you ensure you have a similar safe and quiet environment free from distractions for an Online session.

This is because the session is for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and share what is on your mind. Ensure you have a fast and reliable internet connection. Your therapy experience will suffer if your sessions are frequently interrupted by connection or computer problems.

In the first session you might feel nervous, I will do my best to put you at ease. Each session will be 50 minutes in length. We will spend some time at the beginning talking about things like how long a gap you would like between each session, whether you would prefer in-person or online, what happens if you cannot make a session or if I must cancel a session. I will explain what information I might record, how I will keep your information confidential, and what happens if I assess you to be at risk of harm. Sometimes it can be overwhelming in the first session, so I will send this information to you by email

Online Therapy

Online therapy is live professional mental health counselling via the internet using Teams.

Online therapy provides accessibility to individuals who are disabled or housebound. Mobility can be a big issue when it comes to accessing mental health care.

In-Person Therapy

Traditional, in-person therapy usually takes place in a therapist’s office and has long been used as an effective treatment for many different mental and emotional health problems. Talking to a professional can help you overcome obstacles in your life, gain awareness of the root cause of your problems, manage symptoms, and heal

Sand Tray Therapy

Working in CAMHS I understand engaging therapeutically with children or young people can sometimes require creativity.

I provide Sand Tray therapy for children and young people as an alternative to traditional talking therapies.

Professional Supervision

I work in schools with teachers by providing group Counselling Supervision using Page and Wosket’s Cyclical model. Counselling supervision provides a safe space for professionals to use the services of a therapist to reflect the way they work and explore individual or collective feelings.

My Location

I offer in person therapy in Colne which is easily accessible from Skipton, Harrogate, Keighley, Bradford & Ilkley.

I also offer online counselling via Teams.
